Dear Participants / Nominees,
The below information is regarding some important changes made by NDIA regarding the NDIS plans made from 19 May 2025 and onwards.
The NDIA has introduced funding periods for new and reassessed plans made on and after 19 May 2025.

This change will be rolled out gradually. Participants will not be impacted until they receive a new or reassessed plan following a discussion with them to understand their circumstances. According to NDIS guidelines, this change is introduced by the NDIA to help participants better manage their budgets and achieve more consistent support throughout their plans.
What is Changing?
Instead of providing all funding upfront, the total NDIS budget will now be distributed in smaller portions (usually every three months) during a participant’s plan period.
Essential Points to Consider:
The introduction of Funding periods doesn’t change the total amount of funding in a participant’s plan.
This change would mean that plan funds are now available at regular intervals, rather than the previous system, where full funding was made available upfront for the entire plan duration.
Releasing the portion of the total funding in periods (usually set to 3 monthly intervals).
This change will apply to all new and reassessed plans created on or after May 19, 2025.
Unused funds may roll over to the next period (within the same plan).
Overspending could delay access to future funding periods.
Reasons for the change according to NDIS:
This change aims to prevent –
Rapid budget depletion from plans.
Reduce financial stress resulting from such events.
Support balanced budget planning.
Manage the budget more effectively.
Need to Know Information:
Be aware that not all funding will be available immediately.
Plan carefully, particularly if participants anticipate increased support needs later in their plan.
If circumstances change or a participant is dissatisfied with their plan, they can request a plan reassessment through the NDIA or request an internal review within three months.
