How much does aged care at home cost?
We understand that the cost of aged care is an important consideration for older Australians and their families.
Under Support at Home, your contribution depends on factors including the type of service you receive and your individual circumstances. Some services are fully government-funded, while other services may require a participant contribution.

For example:

Clinical supports such as nursing and physiotherapy have no participant contribution.

Other services can have contributions depending on the type of support and your circumstances.

From 1 October 2026, approved personal care services will be fully government-funded when included in your Support at Home support plan and subject to available funding.
Cost A (Package & Care plan management fee 10% + Ongoing administrative fee 10%, based on the per-service invoice raised by the service provider)

Cost B (Service fee – charged based on the agreed rate/hour multiplied by actual service delivery hours in a week)

Cost C (OUT OF POCKET - Contribution to be paid by client to Services Australia as agreed - Invoiced to the client by Package manager)
+
Cost D (OPTIONAL Care coordination – help with organizing services and liaising with service providers approx. 10-15%).

How do I get aged care at home?
If you're new to government-funded aged care, the first step is to contact My Aged Care and request an assessment.
The process generally involves:

Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit the My Aged Care website to find out about your eligibility and request an assessment.
Step 2 - Have your needs assessed
A My Aged Care assessment looks at your circumstances and the type of support you may need to continue living independently at home.
Step 3 - Receive your assessment outcome
If you are approved for Support at Home, your assessment and support plan will determine the services and level of support available to you.
Step 4 - Choose a provider

You can choose an aged care provider that suits your needs and preferences.​

Yes. If you are approved for government-funded aged care services, you can choose a provider that suits your needs. ELS can discuss our services and availability with you.
What services can I receive at home?
Depending on your assessment and support plan, services can include personal care, nursing, domestic assistance, meals, shopping, transport, social support, allied health, home and garden maintenance and other approved supports.
How much does Support at Home cost?
Costs depend on the type of service and your individual circumstances. Some clinical services have no participant contribution, while other services may require a contribution.
Is personal care fully funded?
From 1 October 2026, approved personal care services under Support at Home will be fully government-funded when personal care is included in your support plan and you have available funding.
Can I change my aged care provider?
