How to access your ndis plan copy in a few simple steps

Updated: Sep 6, 2023

If you are an NDIS participant and do not know how to download a copy of your ndis plan - it can be done in just a few easy steps.

You may be asked to provide a copy of your ndis plan to your plan manager or your support coordinator, as a first step to starting their services.

This is because Plan Managers & support coordinators, not only need to know the funding available in your plan but the goals and other stated items as well so that they can guide you better with your ndis plan-related queries.

Downloading your NDIS plan is easy. You can access a copy of your NDIS Plan in a pdf format for sharing with your trusted providers, simply by going into your NDIS Myplace Participant portal.

Not having access to a soft copy of the ndis plan, many participants approach us not knowing how to retrieve one and were not aware of how to download their plan as a pdf format. We help many participants navigate the ndis participant portal to download their plans.

So, we thought of writing a quick guide on how to download a copy of your Plan, in just a few simple steps as below.

So, let us begin -

If you have a computer or a smartphone and a good internet connection, this process should only take a couple of minutes.

TIP: If you do not know of the MyGov website or do not have signed up for My Gov yet, I would suggest going to the my.gov.au website and creating an account first, as this will be the fundamental step before we proceed to the next steps.

Assuming you now have registered as a user of my-gov and can now see the below login page, you may proceed as per the steps below -

(The image below shows a preview of the MyGov website login page).

1: Having the access to MyGov website (as shown above), and if this is your first time accessing your ndis portal, firstly you may wish to link up the ndis participant portal to your my-gov account.

Linking is easy - by calling the NDIS helpline on 1800 800 110 and speaking to the helpline staff and obtaining a unique linking code. You will need this code (Expiring in 14 days) to link your ndis portal to my-gov for the first time. You will also need your date of birth and surname, to link successfully.

(Image below shows a preview of the page to enter this code and other details)

Once you have successfully linked the ndis service to your my-gov, choose National Disability Insurance Scheme from the list of “Your linked services” and press the “Go to Service” buttons.

2: Once you are in the ndis portal, depending on whether you are a nominee for the participant or participant yourself, you may make a selection from the drop-down menu at the top right-hand corner.

Click on the label that says, “Acting as”.

If you’re a Participant, you’ll select “Myself” from the dropdown (see red highlight).

If you are a nominee, you will select the participant’s name, for whom you wish to access the ndis portal.

In this article for demonstration purposes only, we used “Sam Patel” as an example name of a participant.

So, once you select the participant from the dropdown, you would see other options in the form of tiles to do certain things within the portal. The screenshot below is how the ndis participant portal may look like and the different tiles that may appear.

4: Once you can see different tiles listed, you will find tile no 2 labelled as My plan or Sam’s plan. If you’re a participant, simply click on “My Plan”, if you’re a nominee the button will instead say “Sam’s Plan”. See below for the screenshot sample.

5: The View My Plan Page appears, and this is where you need to ensure you’re viewing the right plan. If you or the participant have more than one NDIS Plan, use the dropdown menu to select the right one. Select the right plan out of the list which would have different plans listed with their start and end or review dates.

6: Once the Plan is loaded, click the button in the top right labelled “Print this plan to PDF” and your plan will download automatically in a new window where you can choose to download, save or print your plan.
